Microchipping, official registration and pet passports
Microchipping in line with the law, registration in Turkey’s national pet registry and pet passport paperwork.
About this service
In Turkey, owned cats and dogs must be identified with a microchip and registered in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s pet registration system (PETVET). At our clinic, ISO-standard microchipping and registration are carried out by our authorized vets.
The microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, is placed under the skin with a special applicator; the procedure takes about as long as a vaccination. Because the chip number is linked to the owner’s details, it also makes it easier to reunite a lost pet with its family.
If you are planning to travel abroad with your pet, we can also help with the pet passport and international vaccination record. Entry requirements differ from country to country, so we recommend starting preparations early.

Frequently asked questions
Is microchipping mandatory for cats and dogs?
Yes. Under Animal Protection Law No. 5199 and the related regulation, owned cats and dogs in Turkey must be identified with a microchip and registered in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s pet registration system (PETVET). A microchip also makes it easier to return a lost pet to you.
How is a microchip implanted?
The microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, is placed under the skin with a special applicator; it takes about as long as a vaccination and does not require anesthesia. The chip number and owner details are then entered into the pet registration system.
Can I get a pet passport and official registration at your clinic?
Yes. ISO-standard microchipping, registration in the pet registration system (PETVET) and pet passport / international vaccination record paperwork are handled at our clinic by our authorized vets. If you are planning to travel abroad, please contact us early, as requirements differ from country to country.
