Emergencies

In an emergency, call us first

Our clinic is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In an emergency, calling before you set off lets our vet prepare while you are on your way.

What counts as an emergency?

If you notice any of the following signs, call us without delay:

  • Difficulty breathing, bluish gums or signs of choking
  • A road accident, a fall from a height or a serious injury
  • Bleeding that won’t stop
  • Suspected poisoning (medicines, chemicals, toxic plants, etc.)
  • Seizures or loss of consciousness
  • Repeated vomiting or bloody diarrhea
  • A swollen, hard abdomen with obvious restlessness
  • Inability to urinate (especially in male cats)
  • A difficult or prolonged birth

If you are not sure, call anyway — it is always safer to assess the situation together over the phone.

On your way to the clinic

  • Do not give human medicines without speaking to a vet; some are toxic to cats and dogs.
  • Do not try to make your pet vomit yourself.
  • If you suspect poisoning, bring the packaging or a photo of the product.
  • Carry your pet in a carrier or on a blanket, moving them as little as possible.
  • If there is bleeding, apply firm, steady pressure with a clean cloth.
